Description

Say hello to cast iron’s younger, and thus, obviously, cooler cousin. It offers all the same benefits – a beautiful sear, even heat, a natural nonstick surface over time – but it’s sooo much lighter and easier to care for. Restaurants rave that it’s nearly indestructible.

  • Ultra high quality Carbon Steel: Carbon Steel heats fast, gets super hot, and can be seasoned to a nearly nonstick surface over time. 
  • Pre-seasoned: Most carbon steel pans need seasoning out of the box. We took care of that – with 2 layers of pure corn oil – so you can start cooking right away. Like cast iron, the more you use it, the more nonstick the surface becomes. 
  • Optimal heat: 2.5mm thick core guarantees even heating and high heat retention without making the pan too heavy to hold. No warping. Ever. 
  • Oven safe: Pop it in the oven up to 500 degrees. 
  • Larger Cooking Surface: Not all pans are created equal. We expanded ours, so our 10” pan holds 20% more than other 10” pans. Way more space to work with!
  • Handle Shape: After much testing, we designed one that’s comfortable to lift, tip, and move.
  • Stay-Cool Silicone Grip: Soft and textured, it slides on and off so you can pop it in the dishwasher.

Three Reasons This Pan Might Not Be For You

We believe in honesty at Misen. We don’t think every product is right for every person. Here’s what you should consider before buying.

You like to let pans soak overnight or only use the dishwasher.

No judgment from us! But carbon steel can’t sit in water or go in the dishwasher or it’ll rust, so if you’re not okay hand-washing this pan, you should steer clear of it.

You already have cast iron you really love.

This pan is pretty similar to cast iron, so if you already have one of those you love then you might not find value in this. However, a lot of cast iron lovers find their way over to carbon steel because it’s so much lighter — eliminating one of the worst aspects of cast iron - it’s weight!

You don’t want to season a pan in the future.

Even though we pre-season the pan so you can use it right away, there is some value to re-seasoning your pan every now and then if it needs it. The process takes about 10 minutes and can be done directly on the stovetop, but we understand not everyone has the time for that.

    Excellent Pan!

    Wanted to get away from Teflon to cook my morning eggs. I already have the 10" carbon-steel, so I knew how great Misen pans (and knives!) were. The 8" didn't disappoint. Eggs slide right out. Wish I'd switched sooner. Get Misen carbon-steel pans. You'll be glad you did.
