What Makes This Honing Rod So Great?

The Misen Honing Rod is about 15 inches long and has a ceramic surface.

Safety First

Honing a knife can be dangerous. We made it as safe as possible. A thick rubber tip will prevent slips, and our ergonomic handle will help ensure the rod constantly stays in the right position.

Ceramic > Steel

Ceramic is better for your knife blade. Unlike steel, it’s gentle enough to not damage your blade, and it can both sharpen and hone at the same time.

Easy to Use

We designed this to be extremely user friendly. Our 360 degree guide makes it impossible to swipe your blade at the wrong angle.

    Better directions

I cannot find details on the difference between the ridged sides and the smooth sides….what does each side perform function-wise?

The video does not describe the difference and I do not want to damage the beautiful knives I’ve purchased.

This is great feedback - I'm happy to help!

The grooved side is used for a deeper hone, bringing duller edges back to life. The smooth sides help grind down any burrs that may appear, leaving you with a clean and sharp edge. (If you notice some gray buildup on the ceramic rod, this is a great sign you are using it correctly).

If your knife is pretty dull, start with the ridged side for 10-15 swipes and then finish on the smooth side for another 10-15. If you do this regularly, skip the grooves, and just touch up on the smooth side.

If you're passionate about cooking, you know that a sharp knife is a chef's best friend. That's where the Misen Honing Rod comes in. This distinction is crucial for maintaining your knives over time. The Misen Honing Rod is crafted with high-quality materials to ensure durability and effectiveness. Whether you're slicing, dicing, or chopping, a few quick strokes on the honing rod will keep your knives in top condition, maximizing precision and safety in the kitchen.
