Use & Care
The quick version: Dishwasher, microwave, oven, freezer: Misen Dinnerware goes everywhere food goes. No special care required.
Misen Dinnerware is made from high-alumina vitrified porcelain, triple-fired at 2,300–2,400°F. That means it's fully non-porous all the way through (not just at the surface) so it won't stain, absorb odors, or harbor bacteria the way cheaper dinnerware can. Use it every day, for every meal, without thinking twice about it.
A few things to know:
Dishwasher Safe: Misen Dinnerware is dishwasher safe and designed for it. Load normally and wash as often as you want — the material is spec'd for thousands of commercial dishwasher cycles.
Stubborn stains: Even though the surface is highly non-porous, if you notice any persistent stains, a paste of baking soda and water scrubbed with a soft sponge will lift them. Rinse thoroughly afterward.
What to avoid:
Oven: Safe to 400°F. Place cold dishes into a cold oven and let them preheat together to avoid thermal shock — don't place a cold plate directly onto a hot oven rack.
Microwave: Fully microwave safe.
Freezer: Safe to freeze. When moving from freezer to microwave or oven, let the dish come to room temperature first to avoid thermal shock.
Stack plates and bowls freely — no felt pads or cork separators needed. Reinforced rims are designed to handle stacking contact.
Misen Dinnerware is built for 20+ years of daily use. Unlike stoneware, which can craze (develop fine surface cracks), dull, and chip within a few years, high-alumina vitrified porcelain maintains its look and integrity over time. The color won't fade, the surface won't absorb stains or odors, and the rims are engineered to resist the everyday knocks that chip lesser dinnerware.
No dinnerware is indestructible — if you drop a plate on a hard floor, it may break. But for everything short of a serious impact, these are built to take it.
The quick version: Use it every day. Put it in the dishwasher. That's it.
Misen Flatware is made from 18/10 stainless steel — the same grade used in restaurant flatware and heirloom sets. The "18/10" refers to the chromium and nickel content, which is what makes the steel highly resistant to rust, pitting, and dulling over time. Use it every day, for every meal, without worrying about it.
Dishwasher: Misen Flatware is fully dishwasher safe. Load it in the utensil basket, the top rack, or wherever you prefer. The steel won't rust, pit, discolor, or break down over repeated cycles.
Stubborn spots or discoloration: If you notice a light rainbow discoloration after repeated dishwasher use (common with all stainless steel), rub with a small amount of Bar Keeper's Friend and warm water, then rinse thoroughly. This is cosmetic and doesn't affect performance.
What to avoid:
Misen Flatware is designed to stack cleanly in a standard flatware drawer organizer. No special storage required.
18/10 stainless steel is chosen for restaurant and heirloom flatware because it holds up over decades of dishwashing without rusting, pitting, or dulling. Unlike lower-grade stainless (often marked 18/0 or 13/0), which can rust and discolor after repeated dishwasher cycles, 18/10 maintains its finish and performance indefinitely with normal care.
Yes, up to 400°F. If the dinnerware has been in the fridge or freezer, let it come to room temperature before putting it in a hot oven to avoid thermal shock.
No. The hardened, fully vitrified surface resists the gray metal streaks that show up on softer stoneware and earthenware.
Yes, fully. No metal trim or reactive elements.
No. 18/10 stainless steel is highly resistant to rust and corrosion, even with repeated dishwasher use.
Yes. All Misen Dinnerware pieces share the same shape and silhouette, so White, Blue, and Red pieces can be mixed freely.
Misen Dinnerware is designed to resist chipping, but if a piece chips significantly — especially on the rim — we recommend replacing it, as a compromised rim is more susceptible to further damage. Contact us and we'll help.
