Why It’s Great

Better With Every Cook

Carbon steel develops a naturally nonstick surface the more you cook on it. One of the few kitchen tools that actually improves with use.

Expanded Cooking Surface

Extra floor space means you can sear proteins without crowding and cook more in fewer batches—with the same footprint as your other pans.

Handle Stays Cool Despite the Heat

An ergonomic, stay-cool handle means you're not reaching for a towel or an oven mitt every time you need to move the pan.

Always in Season

We did 2 rounds of seasoning, so you don’t have to.

Two layers of neutral oil baked at high heat so you can skip the break-in phase while the surface gets more nonstick with every cook.

Thin for the Win

This body was built for high heat cooking.

At only 2.0mm, our Carbon Steel cookware heats faster and sears better than virtually any other pan.

Reviews Summary
Customers say this carbon steel frying pan heats evenly, delivers excellent non-stick performance right out of the box, and cleans up easily. Many reviews highlight how the pre-seasoned finish improves with continued use, making it ideal for cooking eggs and achieving beautiful browning on meats and vegetables. Common feedback mentions the pan's durability and quality construction. Some note the weight is substantial, though this contributes to heat retention. A few mention the handle length takes up storage space, and some observe discoloration as normal seasoning develops over time.

    Excellent little pan.

It's an excellent pan, though a bit heavy for a small pan.

    What a fantastic pan

I honestly can’t praise Misen enough. The pan itself is fantastic. It heats evenly, develops a beautiful seasoning, and produces an incredible sear. It’s quickly become one of my favourite pieces of cookware.

What impressed me even more, though, was the customer service. I had an issue with my original pan, and Misen handled it brilliantly. They were professional, friendly, and incredibly responsive throughout the whole process. They listened, stood behind their product, and made everything completely hassle-free.

In a world where great customer service can be hard to find, Misen really sets the standard. It’s refreshing to buy from a company that genuinely cares about its customers and has confidence in its products.

I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Misen to anyone looking for high-quality carbon steel cookware backed by first-class customer support. A fantastic company with equally fantastic products.

    Great Skillet

This is my third Misen skillet. Love their quality and cooking ability. Easy clean up and versatility

Pre-Seasoned Carbon Steel Searing, With a Tempered Glass Lid

The 12” Pre-Seasoned Carbon Steel Frying Pan + Glass Lid is built for serious searing and everyday cooking that gets more naturally nonstick over time. It arrives pre-seasoned, so you can start cooking right out of the box, and the carbon steel construction is designed for fast heating and excellent browning when you want a crisp crust on proteins or deeply caramelized vegetables.

This pan includes a matching tempered glass lid, which helps lock in steam, moisture, and flavor while letting you keep an eye on what’s happening without lifting the lid. That can be especially useful when you want to transition from searing to covered cooking on the stovetop, or when you want to reduce splatter while simmering.

For heat control and versatility, the pan is induction compatible and oven safe up to 500°F / 260°C. The 2.5mm thickness is designed for strong heat retention without excessive weight, and Misen notes a larger cooking surface than most comparable pans, which can make a difference when you’re cooking in batches or fitting larger portions in one go.

Care is simple but specific: this is hand wash only. After washing, dry immediately and apply a thin layer of oil to help maintain the seasoned surface. If you want a quick refresher on best practices, Misen’s carbon steel pan care guide is a helpful reference for day-to-day cleaning and upkeep.

If you’re comparing within the lineup, browsing the broader carbon steel cookware range can help you decide on sizes and sets, while the wider cookware collection is useful if you’re pairing carbon steel with other materials for different tasks.

Frequently Asked Questions About carbon steel frying pans with glass lids

What’s included with this pan?

You receive a 12” pre-seasoned carbon steel pan plus a matching 12” glass lid. The pan is described as ready to use right out of the box, and the lid is designed to help lock in steam, moisture, and flavor while you cook.

Do I need to season it before my first cook?

No extra first-step seasoning is required to get started. The pan comes pre-seasoned, and the surface is intended to become more naturally nonstick over time with regular cooking and proper maintenance.

Can I use it on induction, and can it go in the oven?

Yes. The pan is induction compatible and oven safe up to 500°F / 260°C. If you plan to use the glass lid with oven cooking, follow the product’s care guidance, since the page details the pan’s oven rating, not a separate lid temperature rating.

How do I clean and maintain the seasoned surface?

This pan is hand wash only. After washing, dry it immediately, then apply a thin layer of oil. This routine helps protect the carbon steel and supports the seasoning layer that contributes to naturally nonstick performance over time.

Why does the thickness matter for cooking?

Misen lists a 2.5mm thickness, which is designed to deliver excellent heat retention without excessive weight. In practical terms, that can help maintain heat when you add food to the pan, supporting better searing and more consistent browning.
