Great cutting board

Nice heavy board and a good size. Works well in my small kitchen. My Misen chef knife stays sharp longer then when I was using a plastic board for everything. I still use the plastic board for meats.

Excellent cutting board

I love this cutting board. I wish it were bigger and thinner. I want to be able to roll out pastry on it. Heavy and hard to move. I also wish it came with a bottle of mineral oil or mineral oil was offered so I didn't have to do extra shopping. Other than these concerns I would have given it 5 stars.

Nice board, but rough surface

I like the heft of the board, and the way it feels to chop on. The board is perfectly flat. Joints between individual wood pieces are nicely made. However, the surface of the board is not smooth. The grain is standing up. They should have used finer sandpaper in the factory. It is not enough of a problem for me to return the board, but I need to find a sander to smooth it out. I saw a comment where someone said the board was too soft. It is a bit soft, but I find the softness makes chopping a pleasant experience.

I must beg to differ with Misen on their recommendation for oiling. The board (all wooden cutting boards) should be oiled quite frequently the first month of use. Then, gradually back down on the time between oilings. Once or twice a week at first, then once a month, then once every few months. I use mineral oil purchased at a hardware store or grocery store. It is food safe.
